Nebraska Auctioneers Auxiliary 2024 Hall of Fame Inductee, Lindy Elson, Old West Realty & Auction. LLC, Curtis, NE
Lindy Elson, Old West Realty & Auction, LLC, Curtis, NE, has been in the auction business since he was 16 years old, and even attended auction school in Mason City, Iowa, with his brother who was only 10 at the time. Lindy worked at numerous sale barns, before starting his own business in 2011.
Lindy has been an advocate for not only the auctioneers to join the association, but also to join the auxiliary in support of their organization. Lindy has been a mentor to both auctioneer and auxiliary members.
Lindy obtained his real estate license in 2003 and worked for Old West Realty of Gothenburg for 5 years, until they merged in 2008 with Gothenburg Realty. In 2008, he obtained his broker’s license and then worked as an associate broker with Gothenburg Realty, until he left to start Old West Realty and Auction in 2011.
During Lindy’s Auxiliary Presidency in 2017 he helped to generate sales of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association “I Love Auctions” vests, while leading the auxiliary with pride. Early on in his presidency he proposed that the auxiliary consider an increase in the # of scholarships awarded to 4. The auxiliary board approved this when 10 or more scholarships were received.
When his term was up, he “choked up” handing the gavel over to Brenda Marshall, as he was so humbled to be the first male auxiliary president to have served the Nebraska Auctioneers Association Auxiliary and lead “his girls.”
Lindy Elson resides in Curtis, Nebraska, where he and Regina Andrijeski operate Old West Realty & Auction. LLC. They also run a 50-head cow herd. Lindy has two children, Robin (Scott) Rollenhagen and Gerud (Connie) Elson and seven grandchildren; Ty, Rylie, Colton, Cody, Zach, Justin, and Jessa.
