Lindy was born and raised in Curtis, Nebraska where he grew up in and around the agriculture and auction industry. Since he was old enough to go with his Dad, Lindy attended and worked in sale barns and around farming. This all led him and his brother to attend the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA, in 1967 and Lindy has been involved in the auction business ever since. Lindy also farmed for 12 years in Hayes County before moving back to Curtis where he currently resides. In 2003 Lindy obtained his real estate salesman license and worked for Old West Realty of Gothenburg for 5 years, till they merged with Gothenburg Realty in 2008. In July of 2008 Lindy obtained his broker's license and then worked as an associate broker with Gothenburg Realty until he left to start Old West Realty and Auction with his partner Regina Andrijeski. Lindy has 2 children, Robin Elson-Rollenhagen of Curtis, NE and Gerud Elson of Curtis, NE. He served on the Curtis Volunteer Fire Department and as an EMT with the Frontier County Ambulance Department. He currently serves as President of the Frontier County Ambulance Board. He is a member of the National Realtors Association, Nebraska Realtors Association, National Auctioneers Association and the Nebraska Auctioneers Association. In 2024 he was inducted into the Nebraska Auctioneers Auxiliary Hall of Fame for his leadership as past President and involvement in the Auxiliary and as a side note as the only male in Auxiliary history to ever do so.
